About US
Hello, I’m Shailey - the founder of this small brand @tseby101
Today, I’d like to talk a little bit about why & how I started with it.
I’m a vegan since over 3 years now - purely for animals. I’m not an activist but I try to play a minimal role in any kind of cruelty to animals. Which is why all of the clothing we have here at TSE is either vegan or upcycled.
I strongly believe in sustainability & minimalism & while I don’t live a completely minimal lifestyle, I strive to reach that point someday, hopefully soon.
I try my best to mirror my ethics in my work, it’s not always possible but I try.
That led to our first collection of TSE where we upcycled waste fabrics to make beautiful patches and we used them in garments made from pure undyed cotton.
Our other collection is pure Khadi with chemical free dyes only. Khadi is handspun and handwoven - hence, very expensive. But it’s vegan, so I decided to take a chance & dive into it.
I love animals, I’m against animal cruelty in any form, I’m against zoos or captivity of animals in any form, and I’m against buying pets vs adoptions of animals in true need of a home. I have 4 four legged children - 3 of them are adopted and my workplace is a safe haven for the animals around it.
Bringing into picture our third collection – Freedom. Something to drive awareness against exploitation of animals while also trying to be in sync with fashion.
My general observation in context of upcycled & natural clothing was the lack of routine wearability in them - so with TSE, with all my designs I’ve tried to make them in a way for people to be able to wear it on a routine basis.
An Everyday Wear approach for people to switch to sustainable clothing from Fast Fashion.
As a small homegrown brand, we face a lot of challenges starting from lack of finance & productive labour to ethical sourcing to maintaining accessible price points as we try to reach more people.
I truly believe we can make a difference, no matter how small, but I hope to do more with this platform - for the animals & for nature & for people to divert to these values via our clothing.
